Ann Lander's Sister's Meatloaf Recipe

This recipe is rumored to have been a favorite of the late Ann Lander's sister! And just a teaspoon of MSG brings this family favorite to life!

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2  cups dry bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp. MSG
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 1 oz. pkg. dry onion soup mix
  • 2 slices bacon
  • 1 8 oz. can tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350º F. 
  2. In a large bowl, combine the beef, eggs, crumbs, ketchup, MSG, water, and soup mix. 

  3. Mix well and spoon into a regular-size loaf pan. 

  4. Cover top with 2 slices of bacon, then pour tomato sauce over all. 

  5. Bake in a preheated oven for 1 hour.
