“Aunt Lila’s” Hamburger and Rice Stroganoff

Are you suffering from sweet potato casserole burnout? Can’t bear the thought of another cold turkey sandwich? Then this is the recipe for you! This hamburger and rice stroganoff recipe is quick, easy and a delightful change of pace for your taste buds. The MSG provides More Savory Goodness (and just a little goes a long way). The mushrooms, combined with the beef, give this recipe a boost of umami flavor, too.

 

“Aunt Lila's” Hamburger and Rice Stroganoff

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups rice uncooked
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon monosodium glutamate MSG
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 lb fresh mushroom sliced
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup 10-oz size
  • 1 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare rice, salt and water and cook according to the package directions.
  2. In large skillet, sauté onion in butter until golden. Stir in ground beef, garlic, flour, salt, MSG, paprika, pepper and mushrooms.
  3. Cook for 5 minutes. Add soup and simmer 10 minutes, uncovered and stirring occasionally. Stir in sour cream until well combined.
  4. Serve over hot rice.
